'I started playing guitar at the age of eight; it was just always going to be guitar for me. No other instrument is as iconic or as downright cool as the electric guitar and no amount of recorder lessons were going to convince me otherwise.'
'The first time I became aware of Queen was in the mid 1980s as a child when Brian May’s intro riff to One Vision blew my head off and I was never the same again! Whilst my friends as teenagers followed Ned’s Atomic Dustbin and The Shamen I immersed myself in Queen, Led Zeppelin and Jeff Beck. Needless to say I wasn’t downright cool back then…'
'After 6th form college I found myself in an indie flavoured band called The Other Garden and for the next few years enjoyed moderate success and a degree of notoriety culminating in our attempt to sue Green Day for plagiarism!'
I played very briefly in two other Queen tribute bands, both London based, but fate conspired against either really taking off. I had all but abandoned the idea when a friend sent me a message telling me about an advert for a ‘Queen Rock’ band who needed a decent Brian. I got my sixpence out and went to jam with Shaun, Ian and Matt and discovered that they shared my attitude towards how a live tribute to Queen ought to be- stripped down, loud and rockin’. I think we’ve nailed it.'
